Formed in April 2015, MacComms is a Leeds-based, award-winning PR agency. Founded and run by leading businesswoman Ellie MacDonald, MacComms has helped more than 100 Yorkshire-based firms to raise their profile and credibility.
Ellie has more than a decades’ PR and marketing experience in both public and private sector roles. Entering its fourth year of trading, MacComms has supported a number of SMEs with fast-growth plans across a range of sectors from tech to manufacturing, entertainment and food and drink. Clients include Sound Leisure, The Car Buying Group, Cooper King Distillery, Vet-AI and Tall agency, amongst many others.
Ellie is supported at board level by finance director Martin Mellor and sales director, Chris Rabbitt; alongside a team of experts at director level. This includes a range of traditional and digital PR professionals with sector-specific, national and local contacts and expertise, as well as copywriters, social media and events experts to deliver consistent results and support business growth.

Ellie is the founder and managing director of MacComms. Prior to setting up her business in 2015, Ellie undertook several roles within the marketing and PR industry, including marketing manager at the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce where she learnt how to be an editor of business news publication, Close Up for Business magazine.
Ellie is also an accomplished account manager, having handled around a dozen client accounts during her time at a PR agency.
An award-winning entrepreneur, in her short time in business Ellie has won several awards in business and was recognised for her significant contribution to the region, having been presented with the Community Values Award at Entrepreneurial Spark Leeds’ Celebrate Success Event. Ellie was also highly commended at the inaugural Inspiring Women Changemakers Awards in 2017.
Ellie is incredibly passionate about giving back to the community. Her greatest motivator for setting up MacComms was to become an employer that cares. At the very core of MacComms’ values is a business that is focussed on treating people right.
