More than 70 business owners attended a unique event showcasing the best of Wakefield’s businesses at a unique event last week.

2-Work hosted the event dubbed ‘Ey Up Wakefield’ on Thursday 11th July where guests were welcomed to Tileyard North’s historic mill and enjoyed food, drink, networking and a chance to visit dozens of local businesses as they promoted their products and services.

Attendees enjoyed tours of the building and talks from 2-Work’s co-founder and director, Gal Leslie who was joined by Claire Sutherley, managing director for We Are Wakefield who spoke about the power of networking.

Gurpreet Singh Bansal, business support officer for Wakefield First and Keith Evans, Ad:Venture business manager for Wakefield Council also spoke about the support available for businesses across the district.

Set within the iconic Rutland Mills development and adjacent to the famous Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield, 2-Work at Tileyard North recently opened its doors, offering coworking and private office space for businesses across Wakefield.

    Galit Leslie comments:

“We would love to thank the stall holders, attendees, existing members and the new faces who attended our first Ey Up Wakefield event.

“A special thanks to our partners at Tileyard North for the welcome drinks and Ben at The Pizza Yard for the delicious pizza. We can’t wait for the next one and to welcome even more attendees soon.”

Gurpreet Singh Bansal, business support officer for Wakefield First who attended and spoke at the event says:

“The Ey Up Wakefield event was brilliant, well-organised and it was great to see so many likeminded individuals all under one roof.

“It was a pleasure to deliver a presentation about Wakefield First and showcase the support we offer businesses across the district.

“I had some meaningful conversations with aspiring entrepreneurs, businesses and partners who I’m looking forward to connecting with and supporting in the near future.

“I’d recommend attending the event to anyone who wants to explore the options to grow and thrive in the district, it’s a great opportunity to network with others and learn about the different support provisions on offer.”
