Branding experts combine forces to transform landmark Leeds development

    By Ellie MacDonald | Client news | Comments are Closed | 26 July, 2021 | 0

Leeds-based companies Widd Signs and UX Global (UXG) have completed a five-figure project to design and install a range of striking external and internal signage, as part of a £7.5m remodelling and refurbishment programme at office building 1 City Square in Leeds.

The signage specialist worked with digital solutions provider UXG to design and install high-spec internal and external branding and wayfinding signage at the 108,000sq ft, 11-storey landmark office building. Installations include an 11ft by 6ft video wall in the main atrium, along with various LED-illuminated logos and a digital directory.

Both companies were commissioned by construction specialists Ardmac, who were appointed by Catella APAM to create a new atrium and entrance, as well as 46,196sq ft of workspace over five floors, with an on-site coffee shop, business lounge, fitness studio and shower and changing facilities. Architecture firm TP Bennett also played a key role in the project.

The building, which is prominently located opposite the train station, is already home to occupiers including Deloitte, Allied Irish Banks and Lloyds Bank.

Commenting on the project, Rory Campbell-Pilling, head of operations at Widd Signs, said:

“We’re delighted to have supported Ardmac on the refurbishment of what is an incredibly innovative and exciting office environment in the heart of Leeds.

“This turnkey project saw us team up with UXG to design, manufacture and install an array of high-spec signage, providing us with an opportunity to once again showcase our industry-leading capabilities and expertise.”

Established in 1888, Widd Signs provides signage consultancy, design, and production to a range of high-profile businesses operating in the construction, retail, and sports and leisure sectors. Its clients include established construction companies such as Sir Robert McAlpine and Winvic, as well as retailers including Marks & Spencer, Primark and Schuh.
