Businesses invited to tee off for Simon on the Streets

By Ellie MacDonald | Client news, Positive news | Comments are Closed | 23 September, 2020 | 0

Businesses are invited to participate in an afternoon of golf as part of a fundraising activity to raise money for Yorkshire charity, Simon on the Streets.

The longstanding Leeds-based charity supports homeless and vulnerable people throughout Leeds, Bradford, and Kirklees. Its team of six full-time outreach keyworkers provide emotional and practical support who are currently incredibly busy, out on the streets, ensuring the most vulnerable can eat and access accommodation, as well as advising on precautions to reduce the risks of contracting Covid-19.

‘Simon on the Tee’ starts at 12pm on Thursday 8th October 2020 at Leeds Golf Centre, Wike Ridge, North Leeds with up to 18 teams of four playing a shotgun-style event with food and refreshments provided.

Nine teams are confirmed to date and teams include local businesses The ICC Group and Sentio Partners.

Andy Miller, M&A Partner at Sentio Partners comments:

“Simon on the Streets is a fantastic local charity that supports vulnerable and homeless individuals. Over recent years homelessness has become a much more prominent and spoken about subject, one that is only going to get worse in the current economic environment. Any support we can give to Simon on the Streets to help them continue the amazing work they are doing is something we are proud to be a part of.”

Joe Witty of The ICC Group adds:

“We are delighted to be supporting Simon on the Streets very first golf event to raise valuable funds which are needed to support the homeless and vulnerable in West Yorkshire. We are looking forward to an entertaining and competitive afternoon at the stunning Leeds Golf Centre.”

Natalie Moran, CEO at Simon on the Streets, said:

“The homelessness sector has seen immense change over the past six months. As a new CEO for Simon on the Streets it has been a worrying time witnessing, first-hand, the impact of a global pandemic on our client group, staff, and organisation as a whole.

“Simon on the Streets is an independent charity which relies solely on fundraising events, our supporters and corporate sponsors. With so many events cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve worked hard to organise a socially distanced event and we hope the business community will join us, have fun and support the charity.”

Anyone wanting to attend Simon on the Tee should email fahad@simononthestreets.co.uk or call 0113 3452270.
