Entrepreneurial spirit sought for charity’s accumulator challenge

    By Ellie MacDonald | Client news | Comments are Closed | 29 April, 2022 | 0

West Yorkshire homelessness charity Simon on the Streets has launched its first ever accumulator challenge, inviting businesses and people with an entrepreneurial flair to turn £40 into thousands.

Individuals and teams who apply will be given £40 by Simon on the Streets to convert into as much money as possible. The funds raised will enable the charity to continue its work in providing emotional and practical outreach to homeless and vulnerable people in Leeds, Bradford, and Kirklees.

The accumulator challenge is open for entries now and will take place from 1st July – 30th September and participants are encouraged to raise funds however they wish, so long as it is ethical and legal. The charity is also sourcing mentors to help guide participants to plan their campaigns and help raise as much as possible.

Simon on the Streets’ fundraising manager, Leah Charlson said:

“With the increased cost of living, we’re aware that times are hard for many people, so we wanted to launch a truly accessible fundraising challenge and reward entrepreneurial innovation. From traditional activities such as running bake sales to the more obscure, weird, and wonderful fundraising initiatives, we’ve lined up expert support in mentors to provide guidance and cannot wait to see what people come up with throughout this challenge!”

Participants are asked to pledge to raise a minimum £1000 and will be invited to an awards ceremony later in the year to unveil winners with categories including wackiest idea to most funds raised.

To sign up for the challenge sign up via the Simon on the Streets website before 30th June.
