Our founder has won and been shortlisted for an award!

    By Ellie MacDonald | Latest news | Comments are Closed | 10 November, 2017 | 0

We are delighted to announce that our founder, Ellie MacDonald, has been awarded a community values award at Entrepreneurial Spark Leeds’ Celebrate Success Event, for her fundraising efforts alongside four other entrepreneurs in Simon on the Streets’ recent sleep-out event.

The news follows Ellie’s recent shortlisting in the Inspiring Women Changemakers award, where Ellie has been named the Community Champion category.

The Inspiring Women Changemaker awards are described as a dynamic movement of women leading transformational change, in work, in society and in the world, showcasing the hard work and dedication of women changemakers.

The event will take place on the 23rd November at The Opportunity Centre in Bradford. Ellie and our account executive, Emily, are looking forward to attending on the night.

Ellie has been nominated based on her passion and focus on corporate social responsibility within the business. Ellie’s primary motivator for setting up her business was to become an employer that gives back. At the very core of MacComms lies a business that is focused on values and treating people right.

Ellie is involved with numerous initiatives focusing on giving back to the community, regularly sharing her entrepreneurial journey to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs at university events.

We have recently also launched our CSR initiative, which will see one team member carry out a charity day every six months, supporting a charity of their choice.

Ellie is also heavily involved with charities such as Yorkshire-based homelessness organisation, Simon on the Streets. Helping raise the profile allows the charity to have a wider reach, in turn leading to fundraising opportunities and donations.

Alongside three other entrepreneurs, based in the NatWest Entrepreneurial Spark Leeds hub, Ellie also attended, and raised more than £1000 for the Leeds ‘sleep out’ fundraiser this September, to show support and solidarity to the homeless people of the UK, collectively helping to raise more than £15,000.

Commenting on her shortlisting, Ellie says:

“I am thrilled to have been recognised for my efforts to give back to the community! My greatest motivator for starting this business was based on creating a company that treats people right, and corporate social responsibility is a huge focus for us. I am thoroughly looking forward to the event, and meeting the other women changemakers!”
