Student-led dance event aims to bring community together

    By Ellie MacDonald | Latest news | Comments are Closed | 1 February, 2016 | 0

Second year events management students at The University of Huddersfield have organised a local dance show, HudDance.

The event, to be held at St Pauls Church on the university campus on Thursday 18 February from 7pm, is raising vital funds for Linley-based charity, Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust.

Dance societies from the university and local dance schools will be taking part in the event to showcase the dance societies talents in a public event, whilst hoping to raise as much money and awareness as they can for their chosen charity.

The event will see a variety of performers including Dance Emporium and H.D.1 Dance both based in Huddersfield.

There will also be a raffle with prizes donated from a number of local companies including Warren James, Rhubarb and Thornton’s. The event is also sponsored by Riasca who have donated their printing services, and MacComms who are assisting with raising awareness and tickets to the event.

The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust are proud to have been selected as the chosen charity and fundraising manager, Helen Mervill will speak at the event.

Being a trustee of the Laura Crane Charity herself and previously hiring motivated student organiser Bobbie Atkinson, Ellie is keen to give as much support to the students as possible.

The event is expected to be a huge success and fill the venue’s 140 seat capacity.

To attend the event tickets can be requested through the facebook page https://www.facebook.com/events/1648828362035655/.
