    Team building adventure day

    By Ellie MacDonald | Latest news | Comments are Closed | 10 August, 2016 | 0

The MacComms team headed out on a team building away day at Hazelwood Castle courtesy of new client Live For Today.

Live For Today are a fast growing outdoor adventure business with locations across Yorkshire. They promote safe and exciting adventures for people of all ages. Their three locations across Yorkshire boast a range of activities including, Bubble football, paintballing and bush craft. The business has thrived since establishment in 2011, managing director Marc Wise has spent time creating and developing the business and has recently acquired a new location in Kendal.

Ellie, Jahnae and Grace joined Ben for an adventurous day out where they experienced axe throwing and Quad biking. The team building day also celebrated the final day of Jahnae Student intern’s four-week placement at MacComms.

The day began with a short drive to Hazelwood castle, where Live For Today’s adventure centre is located. Lead by outdoor expert Ben the team were briefed and taken into the woods to begin their adventure.

The team were instructed on the best possible technique before throwing their axes at the targets. Hard wood segments were aligned as targets and used as practice before the main games. With several misses and a few close calls, the team were up to scratch to compete against each other. Jahnae, Ellie and Grace were given two axes each and faced the challenge of chopping a string in half across the wooden targets. Each of us launched our axes at the target narrowly missing the string. The games then progressed with the addition of playing cards to score even more points. After several challenging rounds the team were beaten by comany founder Ellie who accurately nabbed the target scoring a winning 45 points to Jahnae and Graces zero!

After an exhilarating tournament of axe throwing the team changed into overalls, helmets and gloves ready to take on the Quad bikes. With no previous experience, the team were given a safety talk and invited to trial an easy route before heading out into the woods.

The three suited up and prepared to trial the rough terrain of the grounds. The day presented many obstacles and bumps as Grace and Jahnae got used to the track. As we became more adjusted to the track and decided to tackle the rough terrain our leader Ben guided us through the woodland towards the muddy tracks. Through a covering of mud and some serious acceleration our time was sadly up as the time had flown!

The conclusion to the day came all too soon and we were all sad to hand back our helmets and dust down the mud from our shoes before heading to the main grounds of Hazelwood Castle.

We completed our team day with a well-deserved drink and enjoyed the amazing views of the rolling country side at Hazelwood Castle.

If you’re looking for a company day out with a difference, we’d highly recommend Live For Today!
