Widd Signs creates eye-catching signage for Primark’s multi-million-euro flagship Barcelona store

Leeds-headquartered Widd Signs has completed another unique and unquestionably stunning project for retail giant Primark at its new multi-million-euro flagship Barcelona store, which sits at the heart of the famous Las Ramblas boulevard.

The digital and traditional signage specialist designed and installed striking illuminated exterior and interior signage at the store over a seven-week period.

The project comprised of external Primark brand signage, as well as unique internal directional and departmental signage on each of the store’s five retail floors reflecting a Gaudi-esque design. Over 50 different acrylic and aluminium-made signs were installed in total, comprising of approximately 5,000 energy-saving LEDs and over 1km of wiring.

Commenting on the project, Widd Signs managing director Gary Williams said:

“We’ve created and installed traditional and digital signage in over 150 Primark stores all across the world over the last 13 years now, and we’re proud to serve as one of their trusted suppliers.

“This particular project was special in so many ways. Their flagship store on Las Ramblas will be very popular in this cultural Spanish hub, and the scale and complexity of their signage requirements allowed us to once again showcase the breadth of our industry-leading capabilities.”

It’s the latest in a trio of projects Widd Signs has undertaken for Primark in Spain this year, with signage installations also completed at the retailer’s stores in the Catalonian town of Sant Cugat del Vallès and Malaga.

Established in 1888, Widd Signs provides signage consultancy, design, and production to a range of high-profile businesses operating in the retail, construction and sports and leisure sectors. Its clients include retail giants Marks & Spencer, Primark and Schuh, and culture and leisure hubs such as the National Science and Media Museum and Burnley F.C.

Earlier this year, Widd Signs completed the acquisition of Spectrum Sign & Display and its new 20,000 sq ft site in St Helens as part of the company’s exciting expansion plans, adding additional expertise and boosting its in-house manufacturing capacity and capabilities.

In May, the company launched a range of bespoke hygiene solutions to help retailers to navigate the Covid-19 pandemic, including antimicrobial acrylic protection screens, floor and wall graphics and hand-sanitising stations.
