Homelessness charity invites businesses to network in first virtual event

A homelessness charity has organised its first virtual networking group as part of its corporate partnership.

West Yorkshire-based charity Simon on the Streets will hold the online event on Thursday 6th August at 1-2pm as part of its ‘5 for 5’ corporate support programme.

5 for 5 is designed to support Simon on the Streets in becoming more sustainable as a charity by asking businesses to join by donating £500 a year for a five-year period.

The funds help the charity to continue to offer support to those sleeping rough or at risk of rough sleeping in Leeds, Bradford and Kirklees.

Fahad Khan, business development manager at the charity comments:

“We’re excited to hold our first virtual networking event as part of our 5 for 5 corporate partnership, a scheme which allows us to think more long term and spend our funds in a more sustainable way and support our homeless communities.

“This event will bring together our corporate partners in a space in which they will hear about what Simon on the Streets has been doing over the pandemic to support the homeless, the challenges we’ve met head-on and the impact it has had on the charity. It will also be a space in which they can share business and network.”

Leeds-based HR recruitment firm Eyzon has supported Simon on the Streets since 2015. Eyzon managing director Paul Duffield comments:

“We got involved with Simon on the Streets many years ago with one of the sleep outs. After a single cold, wet night out in the Royal Armouries it seemed the least we could do was support this great local charity for the next five years as a 5 for 5 partner. We are really pleased to remain involved and to help in our small way as they face tough times with fundraising and we’re looking forward to meeting new businesspeople at this virtual networking event.”

Established in 1999 Simon on the Streets is an independent charity which offers outreach support to build trusting relationships with vulnerable people who are not accessing other services.

The event is open to anyone in business. To attend please email fahad@simononthestreets.co.uk.
