Lockdown magician performs online to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK

    By Ellie MacDonald | Positive news | Comments are Closed | 12 May, 2020 | 9

Yorkshire Magician Matthew Cope has been performing a series of online challenges during lockdown, to raise money for charity.

As COVID-19 has brought the UK entertainment industry to a standstill, one Yorkshire magician and entertainer has adapted to offer online magic training as well as running a unique week-long challenge raising hundreds of pounds for charity.

Matthew J Magic, an award-winning, Yorkshire entertainer and magician now hosts online magic shows and parties, as well as offering 1-2-1 personal magic lessons via live video. He also keeps families entertained during lockdown with free daily magic chats and weekly tricks every Friday.

Spotting an opportunity to entertain and raise money for charity at the same time, Matthew has spent a week performing a series of challenges online. The challenges include fire juggling, unicycling and magic tricks.

    Matthew comments:

“The majority of my work is performing at live events such as weddings, dinners, trade shows and kids’ parties, things we can’t do at the moment. However, I’ve been teaching magic lessons to kids and adults all over the world with my new venture, Zoom Live Magic and the lockdown has actually opened up a whole new customer base for me.”

He has been broadcasting the challenges live on his Zoom Live Magic Facebook Page and encouraging viewers to donate to Prostate Cancer UK. To date, Matthew has raised over £300.

Matthew has been performing professionally for over two decades. He performs close up magic and other forms of entertainment at weddings, dinners, corporate functions, and trade shows. He has also taught magic and circus skills to kids in schools and to adults as part of team building activities.
